History

Boyne Country Propane started as an idea between business partners Blaine and Alan, who had spent 25 years working together in the propane industry. They had a vision of creating a company that cared for it’s customers, was focused on safety, and gave back to the local community (where Blaine grew up).  At the time, Charleviox County did not have a single propane company with a local office where you could walk into to speak with someone or get a cylinder filled.

In 2014, Boyne Country Propane officially opened for business. An office was built along with the installation of two 30,000 gallon propane storage tanks.  

Boyne Country Propane, with our belief in treating people right, was well received by the local community. Our wall of customer "thank yous" is a small reflection of our commitment to the community and their support of us.

About ten years later, Alan and Blaine were ready to slow down and begin to spend more time with their families, specifically the grandkids!  In order to ensure that Boyne Country Propane’s values and ethics would not change, they decided to bring on the Kohley family as partners in Boyne Country Propane in 2025.  Blaine had known the Kohleys for over 30 years.  The Kohley family has owned and operated Excel Propane, another local Michigan propane business, for over 40 years.  The Kohleys, Blaine, and Alan (a propane family) continue to work together to ensure Boyne Country remains a local propane company focused on customers, community, and safety.

We have both employees and customers that have been with us since the day we opened our doors.
